The Central Cultural Fund was founded to take responsibility for the social cultural and economical development in Sri Lanka through conservation, development and promotion of cultural heritage of national and international recognition.
The prime objective of the Central Cultural Fund is to provide necessary funds for the excavation and conservation of monuments of cultural and religious value, to make arrangements to meet the expenditure incurred on the development of archaeological sites of either in Sri Lanka or in a foreign country. Furthermore, provision of monitory assistance to artistes, craftsmen, authors/writers, artists and musicians who render their yeoman service for the promotion of culture is another specific objective.
