Initiative Congolaise pour la Justice et la Paix (ICJP) is a Congolese human rights nongovernmental organization (NGO) based in Bukavu (South Kivu, eastern DRC). Created in 2002, ICJP advocates for a fair and accountable justice system in the DRC, defends victims of human rights abuses (especially women and children), and supports the work of Congolese human rights associations throughout eastern DRC. In particular, ICJP monitors the human rights situation in South Kivu, edits and verifies reports from its partner associations, advocates against human rights abuses in court and to police and military authorities, and organizes training seminars for Congolese associateions on human rights law and advocacy. Its partners include Global Rights, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, the Swedish Foundation for Human Rights, the International Center for Transitional Justice, and Forefront.
