As part of the European Union funded Liberia Agriculture Programme, SPARK aims to develop agricultural value chains through entrepreneurship. One key component to entrepreneurship is the development of networks and the fostering of an entrepreneurial ecosystem. For this reason SPARK hosts a recurring event series called 'SPARK Celebrates Entrepreneurship'.
Inspired by the Design Thinking training we experienced during our YEP training in the Netherlands I decided to collaborate with serial entrepreneur Juan-Miguel Ramirez and bring Design Thinking to Liberia.
We invited entrepreneurs from in and around Monrovia with the enticing message that they could come learn how to solve their biggest business problems. 32 entrepreneurs attended the interactive workshop on the 6th of December 2018.
The attendees worked on actual problems faced by one entrepreneur from each group, and came with relevant solutions that were tailored to the Liberian context. Participants were challenged to ask questions, think creatively and make fast decisions. We are grateful for their openness and enthusiasm!
