Part of the analysis work I have done so far is looking at the leakage volume over the larger water pipes. This is done by making a water balance over a pipeline. We make a measuring plan for one of the transport lines and measure at the start, the end and all pipelines that are connected to the transport line. The difference between flows gives an indication of the water that is "lost" due to leakage. Measuring and comparing this data is quite some work, because flow varies during the week and over the day and the water balance needs to be accurate. At the end I managed to make water balances over the big supply lines and the results are in line with international research.
