Oil, coal, iron and gold are considered to be the sources of prosperity. However, resources are often more of a curse: they are at the root of severe environmental damage, violations of human rights, conflicts, and poverty.

Developing countries that possess natural resources are the stage for power struggles between multinational corporations and governments. And the stakes are only increasing as the prices are rising and shortages occur. People often do not have sufficient powers to protect their own interests. This has to change and it can be changed.

It is about time that communities benefit from the resources their land provides. In order to achieve this goal, an open dialogue based on equality is arranged between companies, governments and the public. Such dialogues aim at moving them to fair and specific agreements.
