Contact information

WaterAid is a leading independent organisation which enables the world's poorest people to gain access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene education.

We work in Africa, Asia and the Pacific region and campaign globally with our partners to realise our vision of a world where everyone has access to these basic human rights.

We work with local partners, who understand local issues, and provide them with the skills and support to help communities set and manage practical and sustainable projects that meet their needs.

WaterAid has been working in Bangladesh since 1986 and has a total of 21 partners covering 19 rural districts, three City Corporations and one Municipality in urban areas.

WaterAid's strategy is to work through local partners to improve hygiene behaviour and access to water supply and sanitation (WSS) services for poor communities, with special emphasis on:
- Demonstration of innovative approaches
- Participatory methods
- Gender and vulnerable groups
- Hygiene promotion
- Monitoring and evaluation
- Sustainability

WaterAid has also been active in policy advocacy to:
- Strengthen coordination and capacity to work with other sector actors
- Innovate financing
- Demonstrate accountability and transparency of WSS service providers
- Empower and strengthen local government institutions to plan, monitor and implement WSS services
