ACP EU Water Facility (African,Caribbean & Pacific Group of States - European Union Water Facility)

The ACP-EU Water Facility was created in 2004 with the objective of boosting sustainable delivery of water and sanitation infrastructure and improving water governance in the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) group of countries. The projects and programmes incorporate Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) practices.

The specific objectives of the 10th Water Facility are:

• To help achieve the water and sanitation Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), which are to halve by 2015 the proportion of people without sustainable access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation, key prerequisites for reducing child and maternal mortality and combating diseases.

• To contribute to improving water governance and management of water resources and to the sustainable development and maintenance of water infrastructure.
