The theatre organisation Acte Sept was founded in 1994. The organisation stimulates all kinds of artistic and cultural activities, especially Kotéba theatre and research into traditions and rituals in Malian theatre. Furthermore, Acte SEPT uses theatre to address disputed subjects in Malian society, such as female genital mutilation and migration. Acte SEPT also wants to offer training for newly graduated young artists and offer them a chance to make a living from theatre.
Acte SEPT organizes a regional theatre festival in Bamako every two years. They are also in the process of founding a permanent theatre group. Acte Sept strives to establish relationships with at least ten municipalities in Mali, in order to also bring their performances to rural communities.
