RHU (Reproductive Health Uganda)

Reproductive Health Uganda (RHU) is a volunteer led- Charitable Organisation legally incorporated in Uganda under the Trustees Incorporation Act (Cap.165) C.I.NO.574, Tax Identification No. (TIN): 1000041214 .RHU is duly registered under the NGO Registration Statute: S.5914/255.
Founded in 1957 as the Family Planning Association of Uganda (FPAU),RHU pioneered family planning services in the country and significantly contributed to the shift towards comprehensive sexual and reproductive health and rights in Uganda. In 1963 it became affiliated to the International Planned Parenthood Federation.
RHU envisages a Ugandan society where everyone has access to SRHR information and services they need and in which their SRHR choices are respected.
Our mission is to promote high quality, high impact and gender-sensitive sexual and reproductive health and rights information and services for vulnerable and most at risk population of young people (15 – 30 years) in Uganda through capacity building, specialized services delivery, issue-specific advocacy and strategic partnerships.
Our main programme themes are;
• Adolescents: accelerating access to adolescents SRHR and active involvement and participation of young people in governance, management and programmes
• AIDS/HIV: accelerating access to HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and care
• Abortion: increasing access to Post Abortion Care services at the lowest level possible
• Access: accelerating access to services for family planning and other reproductive conditions
• Advocacy: for creation of safe and supportive environment for the provision and access to SRHR information and services, including resources allocation to support such programmes, promoting and/or protecting individual’s SRHR.
