Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) is the national association of the Red Cross in Indonesia, which was established on 17 September 1945 and is recognized as the only National Red Cross by the Government of Indonesia by Presidential Decree No. 25 in 1950 and subsequent provisions of the role and activities strengthened through Presidential Decree No. 246 in 1963.
Internationally, where PMI has been recognized by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on July 15, 1950 and was accepted as a member of the 68th by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies on October 16, 1950.
Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) is a non-governmental organization engaged in social humanity based on principles of the International Red Cross is Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality.
PMI has a mandate as a government partner to help run government tasks in the field of blood donor services, and the provision of safe blood, disaster management and relief, health and social services, Red Cross Youth and Volunteers development trough the annual work plan.
In carrying out its functions, PMI has supported by the PMI Board member and permanent Staff, each of which has a role and job description in accordance with their competences.
PMI volunteers and Red Cross Youth members are part of the human resources as the community member whose existence is highly recognized in the various community service conducted by PMI. Community is not only part of the beneficiaries but community is part of the networking. PMI works with them, by them and for them.
