Project EXPLODE visibility at TROM Doboj
Project EXPLODE deployed its personnel to TROM, Doboj on June 13, 2013 and efficiently started with the implementation. The first 750 pieces of anti-air craft munitions were dismantled and destroyed in the first implementation week as a follow up on high level meeting for joint ammunition disposal effort at the beginning of this month. Even though full operation is scheduled to start on June 18, first batch of disposed ammunition rolled out five days earlier.
The military facility TROM remains in the focus of the Project EXPLODE. UNDP will not only assist the Ministry of Defense in ammunition destruction process but will implement activities aiming to improve safety standards of the facility. These activities will ameliorate working conditions for ammunition disposal specialist and will enhance protection of civilians and military personnel in case of incidents. The EXPLODE team members met with the site commander in TROM to discuss infrastructure upgrades requirements and implementation of engineering projects in the facility.
A plan for the high-level visibility event marking the kick-off of the Project EXPLODE has been agreed with the Ministry of Defense and the OSCE.
Explosive ordnance and remnants of war destruction (EXPLODE) project is financed by the European Union with the total value of 3,837,830 Euro. Project EXPLODE is implemented by the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina and United Nations Development Programme in partnership with the OSCE Mission to BiH. The Project will run until 2015.
