<narrative>Wetlands for Resilience</narrative>A ten year global wetland ambitionThe **Wetlands for Resilience (W4R)** programme aims to scale up healthy, biodiverse, and well-managed wetland landscapes globally by 2030, contributing to climate resilience and environmentally and socially sustainable development. Phase 1 of the programme (2023–2026) focuses on developing and applying a W4R Model Approach and Toolbox to support integrated wetland restoration and sustainable landscape management.At the global level, the programme promotes learning, knowledge exchange, and capacity building based on practical experiences from landscape initiatives. At the landscape level, W4R supports multi-stakeholder partnerships and on-the-ground restoration and livelihood activities in the Ziway–Shalla sub-basin in Ethiopia, the Jeta-Pecixe-Cacheu landscape in Guinea-Bissau, and the Sundarbans in Bangladesh. Lessons from these landscapes—together with experiences from long-term Wetlands International work in Indonesia and India—are used to promote wider uptake of effective wetland restoration and resilience approaches.
