Cordaid Food Security

Food is a basic necessity of life. Yet more than 800 million people in developing countries aren’t getting enough of it. Small-scale farmers are the people that drive the development of regions that are torn by war and conflicts. They ensure that communities have enough to eat, they serve as employers and they bring together people who previously didn’t trust one another.

When farmers work together they always provide a fresh basis for peaceful development. By working together they have more impact in boosting production. They are also better placed to speak from a position of strength when negotiating with their governments for improved services, infrastructure, access to water when it’s in short supply, grazing land and clearer land rights.

Cordaid helps create the right preconditions for small-scale farmers. By offering the required technological knowhow and training, for example. By giving them more insight into the market and improving their access to it. And by strengthening the position of farmers in their region and country.

Cordaid contributes to food security and works on reducing the number of conflicts. In this way Cordaid is creating the opportunities for communities to flourish.
